We were referred to Hyman Electric by friends. We saw the glowing reviews online and Bill was extremely informative when we first spoke. We had been in our new house for only a few months. It was built in 1952 and rehabbed/expanded in 2006. Dual zone HVAC/heat pumps were added in 2015, a generator in 2016 and we were effectively bursting at the seams power-wise wanting to add an electric pool heater when Bill recommended we “heavy up” from 200 to 400 amp service. We initially had them upgrade a circuit for our new electric induction oven, then Bill started the planning for the “heavy up”. Pepco did a field inspection then Bill wrote up the contract. Jeremy and Kevin were there right away and did the inside circuit panel work as well as the outside meter panel and connection work in a couple of days, and they were able to run our generator which eliminated a loss of power while they did their work. The County inspector commented on their great work. And Bill coordinated all the steps from initiating and managing the process with Pepco, scheduling the County inspection, to the cutover with Pepco, which Bill and crew’s wiring installation allowed us to use the generator and avoid a long power outage. Superb work overall. I thank Bill for the power up suggestion and wholly recommend that procedure and having Bill and his crew perform the job!

My family and I had an emergency where are neighbors tree fell through our power line and completely severed the connections. After initial research and speaking with several electricians, I felt the most confident with Bill. Within the hour his crew arrived to analyze the situation. We agreed on the scope of work and within a handful of days, the job was complete! I was very impressed with Jeremy & Kevin on their efficiency and quality of work. You can tell this team takes pride in their craft and the finished product shows it. What really stands out to me most is the communication with Bill. We knew we’re in good hands in that carry’s a lot of weight through an extremely stressful situation. Without question, they are our electricians for life and I highly recommend Hyman Electrical. I also appreciate the “old school” approach where I’m able to deal with someone extremely knowledgeable rather than dialing in to talk to a coordinator who has to asks a bunch a questions before routing me to the right person. I cannot give enough praise for Bill and Jeremy. They are THE professionals of the professionals. They know old houses, they know how it should be done, and they will not cut corners like those random electricians you find from home improvement service apps. Sure I find them there initially, but the level of work they provide is nothing compared to those “handyman” services, that they claim to do electric work. If you want the electric work done right, Bill and Jeremy are the guys to call. Their knowledge, their workmanship, professionalism and customer service are the best I have experienced, and I will not call anybody else when I need electric work done. 10/10 recommend.

If anyone is looking for a great Electrician who is prompt and reliable this is the place to call. I had an issue with an electrical outlet knocking power out to half my master bedroom, foyer and front porch light after I plugged in the vacuum. I went on Angie’s list and after 20 minutes I got a call. He was able to walk me through the issue and then I realized we had one more GCFI outlet I didn’t reset. Once I did we got back power. Not too many companies still do this kind of help or service. He could have just set the appointment, came out and took my money to flip a switch but he didn’t. We need more companies like this one. Thank you!!!!

I have used Hyman Electric twice for my home electric work. I would use them again for future electrical work.

They stick to their arrival windows, handle all the permits, and talk to the electrical company. Bill Hyman stays in communication all the way and answers your questions.

The county inspector praised their 200 amp "heavy-up" and electrical panel upgrade. The inspector said that it was very clean work.

They ran new electrical cables to install our ceiling fans and bathroom exhaust vent. They protected our furniture and even wore plastic booties to protect our floors.
