We hired Ricky and the team at Valenz Construction in early 2023 to do a huge renovation on our house. It involved gutting out and starting over for the entire house, as well as reconstructing one end of it from the foundation up.

It was complicated by the fact that we continued to live and work from the home throughout.

We can honestly say that Ricky and the team from Valenz were a genuine pleasure to work with. Their care and willingness to work with us--and around us!--at every step of the project was nothing short of remarkable. We also always felt that Ricky was treating us fairly, honestly, and profoundly honorably throughout the entire project.

The careful work, flexibility, and never-ending good cheer from everyone was simply remarkable and touched us deeply. We think of it every day as we enjoy the wonderful house Ricky and everyone at Valenz Construction created for us.

My wife and I have done many large and small projects with Ricky and his team over the last several years. We’ve done everything from ADU garage conversions to remodels to landscaping and also repairs. I won't work with anyone else. Ricky is not only a very knowledgable and skilled GC, but he is also honest and has morals. He cares about doing things the right way and he delivers what he says he will. His team is comprised of hard workers who are courteous, respectful, professional. Construction by nature is stressful, but I've always felt like Ricky's worked with me to reach results, and not against me. My wife and I highly, HIGHLY recommend Ricky, David, and the whole Valenz Construction family! From the first meeting until the final day, Ricky was knowledgeable, handy, responsive, responsible, courteous, friendly, the list goes on.

Long story short, the remodeling of the entire front exterior of our house (as well as painting the entire exterior of the house) went remarkably smooth, and any hiccups that occurred, Ricky was there to immediately address and fix. We will be using them for any other renovations and are so happy to have gotten to know Ricky and his family.

This was the first renovation we’ve ever done, and like everyone else, we were pretty worried about the costs of construction and getting involved with a bad contractor (we have heard so many bad stories). We actually had a contractor before Valenz Construction, but we did not feel he was willing to take the time to walk us through all the details, costs, and concerns we had about the project, he was more of a “my way or the highway” type, so we parted ways with him. My advice here is to trust your intuition on hiring contractors. You can terminate your relationship with them any time until you sign something and they start breaking ground.

Ricky, on the other hand, on our first meeting was warm and engaging and willing to slowly walk us through all the steps and how he would go about doing the remodel. Every step of the process with Ricky was great: the estimate included a breakdown of all costs, a timeline of each step to get to completion, and an estimated time of completion (they finished on time!). His costs as compared with other estimates we got were very reasonable and transparent.

When the work finally started, Ricky and his dad, David, and his team of brothers and other workers were all incredibly friendly to us and our neighbors, and were very respectful of our property, cleaning up every day. David kept my worries in check, telling me not to worry about the process, that they had it under control, and walked me through any questions I had. Any questions that they had of me, they would also offer recommendations if I asked, and were very patient with my lack of knowledge about so many nuances of construction.

We had one hiccup when a subcontractor did the concrete demolition and broke an underground pipe but didn’t tell anyone and then covered it in freshly poured concrete. Ricky felt terrible, but took full ownership and said whatever additional costs were incurred to fix the issue, his company would pay for it. They fixed the issue in one day, and we were moving forward. Amazing.

I’ll note that sometimes problems will come up that are up to the homeowner to cover. For example, we didn’t know that there was no plyboard underneath the stucco on our house, so once the stucco was demo’d out, we had to install plyboard before we put up the siding, which was an additional unknown cost to us, but something that had to be done.

My wife and I really can’t say enough about Valenz Construction. We have gotten SO many compliments on our house, and it’s all thanks to these guys for helping us craft our vision into reality. They’ve gotten a lot of deserved recommendations from our neighbors, and we hope you will take this recommendation to heart as well.

One last thing that I have not mentioned specifically about Ricky, David, and Valenz Construction is integrity. Every interaction and every cost or additional item discussed was detailed in full and I always felt they were working in my best interests to do the best thing at the right cost. It’s really hard to know when you have someone with integrity in the construction business because it’s so easy to change things here and there that will add costs to the homeowner over time, but after working with Ricky and his family, I always felt that their integrity led them to do their jobs the right way all the time.

Ricky remodeled our Piedmont home's exterior in 2021, including the addition of an ADU. Then in April of 2022, I learned that we would be relocating to Europe. The interior remodel that Ricky and I had been planning needed to be started and finished in a hurry. Ricky completed the whole job on time and within budget and our renter was able to move in on August 1, 2022. We could not have accomplished that with just any contractor. Ricky and his team worked days, nights, and weekends, and they helped us line up subcontractors for cutting the kitchen counters, refinishing the hardwood floors, etc.

I would say that I am pretty easy to work with, but I am also a perfectionist. All the work that Ricky and his team did on my home was of the highest quality and I could not be happier with the results. My home went from the Ugly Duckling on the street to one of the prettiest.

Ricky and his team are good people who do great work and I would hire this team again and again.

Ricky and his team did a wonderful job!
Him and his team helped us remodel 3 bathrooms at a competitive price. I had a few walkthroughs with other contractors and they all gave me higher price points.
Ricky, always had a smile on his face, was very easy to communicate with, respected our wishes and vision for the space and implemented it well. Sure a few mistakes were made along the way (but that’s bound to happen with anyone) however with each one his team was quick on the scene to help adjust/fix whatever we requested and/or noticed.
There were also small task I needed help with like moving a heavy washer and dryer and building some shelves for a closet and his team handle that for me no problem.
His office assistant - Hannah, is also very lovely. She responds quickly and very easy to communicate with.
I Would highly recommend hiring Valenz Construction!

We had Ricky and team come out and refurbish an old shed and even built a new one along side it once we knew how great of work the team has done. Ricky was communicative throughout the entire process and I felt like the pricing he quoted us was very fair and transparent. I also appreciated Ricky's suggestions and recommendations when it came down to making my vision come to life.

After the project completed, we had a very minor issue, but Ricky was able to follow-up in a timely manner and was able to work around all this rain we've had this season. Really felt like I had a trusted partner throughout this process.

I know moving forward, if I needed any contracting work done, I'm calling Ricky.

Ricky and his team did an excellent job on our project! Not only was his pricing the best out of the 5 bids that we received, his crew took their time and did it right! I have worked with dozens of contractors and I have learned that it is best to communicate, trust, and verify as the work is happening. Ricky's easy going nature made him really easy to work with and once I got a sense that he understood exactly what we needed, there was nothing more to worry about. I work with Valenz Construction again in a heartbeat!!!

Ricky and his team continue to impress. I’ve recently completed a few major renovation projects including an ADU, and I’m so happy with how everything turned out. Ricky takes a lot of the stress and guesswork out of the project and for that alone I recommend him to my own friends and family!
