I purchased a home from Randy Dostal in 2008 and was pleased. When I decided to have him build me another home I expected to be pleased. I have turned out to be VERY displeased.

It was all going okay until after the build was completed and I closed on the loan. THEN, I found out there were multiple bills that were never sent to me after OVER 90 days later! Needless to say this put me in a very bad position. The contractors still have to be paid but the loan is closed. I got confirmation in writing that there were no more bills at completion and prior to closing on the loan. He misinformed me and one of the bills he NEVER sent to me, I had to get it from the contractor... After all this happened Randy Dostal refused to take responsibility for the mistakes or give any type of refund for the fee paid for building the house. Randy Dostal flat out made mistakes and does not care about correcting them.

BEWARE: If you are looking to use Thomas Dostal Developers to build anything this could happen to you! Mistakes were made and there is no regard for correcting them or for the satisfaction of the client! It has been very disappointing! this whole thing put me in a really bad situation! I would recommend ANY other builders over Thomas Dostal Developers.

Update 5/21/18:

This is very simple. A fee was paid for Thomas Dostal Dev. to do a job, that job was not done completely. Their response says. "extortion" but as of today they agreed to the requested refund BUT only if I would sign a release that would release them from EVERYTHING and ANYTHING unrelated to the issue at hand as well. Obviously, this is only in their best interest, NOT mine. This is basically them buying my silence and them relinquishing any responsibility for EVERYTHING on any past/future issues of any kind that could possibly arise. Including some pending repair issues on items their contractors broke and are still incomplete.

He speaks of the budget so much, but that has nothing to do with the issue at hand. He was paid to perform many tasks and one of those tasks was sending me the bills to pay, they failed to do that on 2 of them.

His statements of no other builder would do this or do that is untrue. I chose to have Randy build my house because of the good experience I had with him previously, in fact his fee was higher than anyone else. But was able to to meet my budget, there was unfortunately just a mistake made that we have yet to come to an agreement on. He calls things "luxury" but that is why you got paid so much money. I PAID for those things.

I hope he will come to a fair agreement and I will be able to update this with a satisfactory conclusion.

UPDATE 9/8/2020:

My last correspondence was being told last year by Randy Dostal that Thomas Dostal Developers went out of business and closed. I hear advertisements on the radio now about fixing Derecho Damage so apparently they are open again, weird... After not accepting his offer to give a partial refund to fix his mistakes in exchange for releasing him from any all warranties which is unethical there has been no other attempt to fix the problem. I am still open to a resolution as his mistakes put me in a position of fighting a lien on my property... Very upsetting! Beware if you are having them do work. they mistakes, do not fix them, and then go out of business and then reopen apparently....

CONSUMER BEWARE!!!!! This company will accuse you of not paying invoices that were NEVER SENT to begin with. Lie and tell you they were sent months ago but can produce ZERO PROOF. Lie and tell you the bills are paid and tell you it’s OK to close your construction loan with the bank. Then proceed to “find” bills that all of a sudden haven’t been paid and will deny any responsibility or wrongdoing when we the consumer have to pay the bills out of pocket because he failed to do his job properly and send invoices on time so the construction loan could pay the invoices. All of which happened AFTER he got paid his commission. BUYER BEWARE!!! Any builder is better than Thomas Dostal Developers!
