We've had a bit of a mixed story with our driveway poured by Richfield Blacktop & Concrete. When the driveway was initially poured in 2017, there were quality issues with the top sections closest to our garage that were holding pooled water and weren't sloped well to properly allow water to run away from the home and garage. In addition, there were surface quality issues and a lot of the material was flaking off. Richfield sent out a representative to assess the situation and they ended up replacing these top sections. When they sprayed the finish over these two top sections and complimentary over the rest of the driveway, they also carelessly sprayed our vinyl siding and our painted garage door as well and these spots are still visible today (2024). A bigger issue we've noticed is a lot of rock popping that has happened since it was installed as well as some odd objects that must have been in the concrete mix that are now showing up (see photos). The apron of our driveway must have been a better quality mix (contracted by the city), because it was in place before we moved in and still is holding up great. I'm not sure if timing had anything to do with this issue with quality or if it was a problem with the mix -- both times they poured the concrete it was in late fall when temperatures could have been sub-par for a good set. In addition, both times the concrete was poured, it wasn't actually Richfield that completed the work, but instead was with a subcontracted concrete company. So, there must have been capacity issues (hence the late timing and subcontracting the work). I wanted to post this to warn others to avoid the upsell to concrete from blacktop and to reconsider using Richfield Blacktop & Concrete. The seventh photo is from when the driveway was newer (a couple years old), the eighth photo is from the first install in 2017, and the first six photos are from 2024 (7 years after install).

The asphalt driveway at our home was from 1994, so it was badly deteriorated, missing in parts, and cracked everywhere. It, and the concrete front entrance, were unsightly and also a risk to walk on. Knowing they had to be replaced this year, I did hours of research into local firms, read almost every review, had a few estimators come out so I could get their quotes as well as a sense of their work ethic, and then chose Richfield Blacktop & Concrete - one of the best decisions I've ever made. The owner, Tom, was great to work with, patient, and clear in my options. The actual crew was professional, clean, and respectful. And the work itself is of such high quality that several neighbors rang the doorbell to compliment us on it and ask who did it. Richfield Blacktop & Concrete did the finest job imaginable - Five Star work.

We just had Richfield Concrete and Blacktop install our new blacktop driveway this past week and so happy with both crews that tore out the old driveway and installed the new. Both crews were on time, worked tremendously hard, and it looks fabulous! Our sales person Bob was very knowledgeable and the office staff very nice to work with. Tom set up our appointment for bid and was punctual. Let us know what would need to be done on our end before work could be performed. Put us at ease knowing they had been in business for a long time and were well respected in the community. Crew was on-time, respectful, worked quickly leaving us with a great finished product. Did have a concern regarding blending old well room concrete blocks with new front steps, and Tom came over himself to color match to ensure a beautiful aesthetic. Not super impressed with Richfield Concrete. While they were the most affordable for my project, the concrete walkway that they poured cracked in under a year. In credit to them, response time for a “fix” was good; solution was fill crack with concrete and watch.

Richfield Concrete is top notch, I could not be more pleased with the company from start to finish and very satisfied I went with them. They are responsive, communicative and one of the best companies I have dealt with. We got a driveway apron and several sidewalk panels done and WOW the work is outstanding, you expect great results when paying a service and Richfield Concrete delivered. Tom was great to deal with and Jason and crew are true craftsman who take great pride in their workmanship - Top notch company and 100% recommend!

I had an aging asphalt driveway replaced in Maple Grove. It's difficult soil conditions with heavy clay so it's important to have good base material. With past concrete driveways I've purchased the company removed, replaced and compacted the material to reduce any issues with settling moisture and movement. Since I expanded the driveway with a side park natural compaction of the base can't be guaranteed. It was discussed with the bid and agreed up to 6 inches of material would be removed and replaced. Ultimately it was about 1 inch of material brought back in and compacted with the soil. This left the parking spot on the side of the garage low and flat. They also removed 24 inches of sod and soil on the north side of the driveway past where new asphalt was laid. I needed to get 1 yard of dirt and 8 rolls of sod to cover all the "edge work" that is the home owners responsibility. There is also a fair amount of exposed aggregate in the asphalt leaving the finish rough in places. They were on time organized and professional but I don't think I received their best work,

I had an appointment with Mark F. to do an estimate on replacing my front steps. Mark was very knowledgeable and due to the nature of the job, he actually recommended going a different route, different than concrete. This meant no job for him, but he certainly put my needs first, and especially the needs of my pocket book. I appreciate his professionalism and expertise. He took his time to educate me on more cost effective options that would result in a very long lasting product. Thank you Mark.
