Three years ago, we lived in a basement apartment managed by ResCom. Ryan Forerer was the property manager. We always paid our rent on time and generally took good care of the property. When we moved out, there was some minor damage to a wall caused by our young children, which we repaired as best as we could and thoroughly cleaned the apartment before leaving. Despite our efforts, Ryan and his team kept our entire security deposit for the damages and even charged us an additional $50, which we paid. Recently, we applied for a new rental and discovered that Ryan's team gave us a negative reference, stating they would never rent to us again.

As a result, we now face an extra $800 in security deposit costs with the new property management agency. This treatment is both unfair and harsh, especially considering we took responsibility for and paid for any damages. I called Ryan’s team and they denied the claim at first but then told me they said this because they don’t want to repaint a place each time someone moves out. This is ridiculous treatment. Given this experience, I would not recommend renting from this company.

Don't even bother applying for any of their rentals unless you have over a 650 credit score for both adults. Doesn't matter what your circumstances are, even if you're financially stable with savings. They'll tell you it's 50/50 about approval or denial and then just send an email denying you anyways. They are super picky about who rents from them. So if you are down on your luck, have cancer, are a single mom, or have just ONE negative thing on your credit report you're done for, denial.
