Where do I start? I am a first time homeowner and I have been searching on and off for a home for the last year. My previous experiences were not the best and honestly gave me anxiety at the thought of trying again. My coworker told me that DR Horton had started building new townhomes near her home and that I should check them out. I was hesitant, but eventually reached out. By being a new division Siri did not know her way around the area and I got lost. Frustrated I called, no answer and then Racquel returned my call. Even though at this point I was super mad, lol, she remained calm and understanding and stayed on the phone with me until I found the location. She literally calmed my nerves. I arrive and had no expectations of liking the model homes. I ended up loving two of them. Again, I was hesitant on making the first step towards ownership, but I did, and I am so happy I did. I’m originally from NY. When I bought my house in NY, I bought a custom built home that I worked with the builder to create. It was time consuming, and EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE.

When I visited the new development at Pinegrove by Dr Horton I had some expectations since I’ve already owned a custom built home.

Firstly, this is a huge development. I believe they stated it is about a 8-10 year project and will have an estimated 100+ homes when it is completed.

They seem to have 4 models to choose from. They already have all four models built on site for you to walk through. They are furnished and the sales team is ready to work with you. I’m not sure what the price range is.

Dr Horton is one of the country’s biggest building conglomerates. They explained to me that they are spec builders, not custom home builders. Their homes are build faster because of this. You see, since they already have the model plans in place, they just build it accordingly. There is no opportunity for a person to change the floor plan to expand a room or add windows here or add on a walk around patio. You can certainly do those things. However not during the building process. You will need to do that post-completion.

I just say that each model home was beautiful. The workmanship seems well done. Each model has nice flooring, carpeting and painting. The way Dr Horton operates is that they build their homes with the same features that they show in the model home. So the carpeting you see in the model will be the same one that you will have in your home. The only “upgrades” are some of the lighting features. They also do have choices of their color scheme for the painting packages. But overall, it seems straight forward. Unlike my experience when I built my house on Long Island in NY. The model home had all upgrades that you would fall in love with, only to find that it was an expensive upgrade.
