TERRIBLE company do not use them! We asked them to verify a build we did. They asked us to send pics. and we sent many during construction pics. and they said we can't verify your project because everything is covered up. What good is a third-party inspector who supplies after the fact letters when they won't even come out to look.
Thanks for nothing Troy!

We are selling our house and the buyers had Aquaguard do an inspection. Aquaguard said we needed 6 helical piers for 28k. Thank goodness we got a second opinion! Jim Wages did our inspection and was professional, knowledgeable, and saved us a bunch of money. Well worth the cost of the inspection!

If you are in a rush and just need to pass an inspection so you can get back into your house, then this is the company for you. At the very least they hold a strong bias in favor of builders. At worst, they collude with builders to cover up mistakes.

At my home the inspector noticed +\- 15 missing or misinstalled LVL beams but failed to mention them in his written report… making it very convenient for the builder to wriggle his way out of.

Thank god I showed up to the inspection. Had I not been there I’d have been none the wiser.

When I tried to contact the inspector and his supervisor by phone, text and email, I was ghosted by both.

I usually don't write bad reviews, but I feel I a need to warn others of this experience - and to advise you hire someone else. ONE STAR IS TOO HIGH. I am finishing my basement and contacted Bert Palmer for consultation on LVL Beams and the support I need for them, to open up living space. I clearly stated that I am serving as my own contractor, and needed to know both the beam size and the structure & bracketing needed to support them. Bert assured me that all would be supplied with the blue print. Bert came out the next day. We walked the project and measured together, and I clearly communicated the scope of the work and what I needed from him. I paid his wife for the services, and promptly received the blueprint, which I took to Midway Lumber. Midway had two questions. 1) Bert called for 9.5" LVL, but Midway said they only came in 9.25" - so we needed to know if 9.25" would work? 2) Bert called for one of the LVL's to tie into another with a bracket, but did not mention the angle or strength rating (something I asked for from Bert when he was at my house). Midway said they needed both the angle (which I could figure out) and the "reaction" (which I could not)?

I called Bert in a friendly manner with the information we needed. He said unconvincingly, "a 9.25 'should' work." Then he said, "I do not know the reaction because I did not measure for it, but you can tell them 2,500 pounds." I replied will that work for sure, or is it a best guess? He said, "It should, but you did not ask for that when I was there so I don't have that measurement". I replied in a very nonconfrontational way, "Well, I actually asked for everything that was needed to support the beams, and if you remember, I did ask for the size of the bracket while you were there. I just didn't know the terminology of "reaction'.

Now the solution for this was easy. I was neither mad, nor confrontational. I make mistakes too. I just needed the information. I had paid in full, and Bert could have easily swung by my house to determine the reaction that was needed, as he indicated on the phone he could have supplied it "if I asked".

Bert's response, was this. "You can blame me if you want, but our business is done. Don't call me again." And he hung up.

The combination of Bert's lack of completeness in blue prints to support his client's house, his unaccountability to correct it, and his unprofessionalism in hanging up when I reasonably asked for the information I paid for - is troubling. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from this company.

Had them come out to perform geotechnical testing and determine if soil compaction was able to support porch and roof load. The person came out for about 5-10 minutes, 5 of which in his vehicle, looked around, talked to my wife about the work and then stated the fee was $250. He never performed any engineering standard test on the soil, nor took any samples. A week went by and they sent us a letter with regards to the soil compaction, of which they never tested. DO NOT TRUST NOR EMPLOY these people. They charge for services not rendered and make assumptions instead of decisions based on engineering standards and tests. TERRIBLE FIRM.
