Pros: There's automatic pay aside from paper. Website is easy to use.
Cons: Automatic pay may fail regardless of using the same payment information. You might or might not get notified via email, mail, and phone about cards getting declined and fees adding up. Take note your phone must be from the US, not territories not state outside of the mainland, but the US mainland. You will not receive a call from them when your bills are overdue and you get fees. You might get called irresponsible in pretty words and speculated on personal financial and life management. There's no real understanding of how system/computer programs/software work and you will get the same "we followed protocol the problem is on your side" response because of this.
Use well water if you're able to otherwise don't be "irresponsible" and make sure you check every day your bank account for transaction approvals so you don't get late fees, because this is our only option in this area.

another water company should definitely try to offer service in franklin county! another raise on the water bill. Only two people live in my house and the water bill is ridiculous! Never had this problem when I lived in wake county.

Very sad infrastructure and support team. Quick to disconnect but slow to reconnect. Humans don't run this company, share holding index fund frauds. God is coming back.

Wow I wish there was an option for zero stars - I've never encountered a more incompetent utility company than Franklin County Public Utilities. Their billing system is an absolute joke; you end of receiving a bill in the mail a mere week before the bill is due (and sometimes they don’t even send a bill), leaving customers with hardly any time to arrange payment. And if by some miracle you miss the short window they give you, get ready to be hit with an absurd overdue charge. It's like they're actively trying to squeeze every penny out of their customers – the overdue charges appear to be more of a revenue stream than an actual deterrent for missing their ridiculously compressed payment due date. To make matters worse, their customer service is non-existent. You might as well be talking to a brick wall when you call because they never pick up the phone. It's clear they have no interest in assisting their customers or improving their services. Unfortunately, they have a monopoly in Franklin County – we’re all stuck with this racket until another option becomes available.

Great folks. Very easy to work with. Very friendly and helpful. Just make sure you got your paperwork in order etc. Nothing they can do to help you if you won't take the time to help yourself. Let them know if you have issues. If they can, they'll help.
We autopay and have from day one so we've never had an issue.
I keep hearing if you DO have an issue paying, you're kinda screwed, but the folks I've met there seem very nice. Harsh policies don't come from the people on the front lines. This stuff starts at the top where people have actual power to set policy. Definitely need to take issues up w them, not people forced to be the bad guys.
And... As someone who's worked w the public I also know there's folks who can't be bothered to handle their affairs and make up stories about why they can't pay a bill that they knew was coming. Unfortunately it's so common that when someone genuinely has a problem (health, death in family etc) and comes to you, it's hard to sort out who's who.
Franklin County is at the start of a massive growth spurt. Sounds like it's time for the people who set some of the harsh policies to be replaced and the tech that handles payments upgraded.

I can see why they have a 1 star rating. The base amount they charge is ridiculous, over $72 per month. We moved and our new address is still under them and we had to again pay the new account setup fees and deposits of $150 which is insane! Not to mention when we moved they do not go based off your usage amounts, they still bill you for an entire month! So we were stuck paying two overlapping bills to them because they “don’t prorate”. We received 2 bills in the mail the 8 months we have been with them and they blame it on the post office. I spoke with the post office to see if there was an issue with my mail and they said they rarely see bills from them either. I’ve also been physically in their office with someone else there complaining about the same thing. But they are really quick to charge people that $10 late fee even if they can’t send a bill. Extremely poor customer service.

I have lived in Franklin county for approximately four years. Each and every time I’ve had to go into the office or speak to a representative on the phone, each person has been so polite and so cordial and accommodating. I am so grateful. I will agree with some of the people that said that the billing could be done a little bit more fairly. But I must say the people that are working there are very, very nice and helpful.

I would give ZERO stars if it allowed me to. I really wish we had other options other than Franklin County Public Utilities. I have never used a Utility company that does not give you your deposit back after a year of service. Also, I paid my bill the day that it was due and got charged a $10 late fee. I called to ask why I was charged and the lady said that I have to pay by 5pm. No where on the bill does it say you have to pay by 5pm. I have never been charged a late fee from any other company for paying my bill the day it was due. This place is a joke and I really hope something changes soon because I am scared after reading all of the other reviews.
