It took Ensign Engineering a month and a half to put together the plans for my 35x45 foot steal garage. I opted to do footing and foundation vs. a slab. Once I received the plans, the plans were over complicated and over engineered. This was verified by 3 concrete contractors, and a different engineering firm. The plans themselves were not clear and were difficult to read, especially compared to plans from other engineering firms. I attempted to reach out to the engineer regarding the issue, but was told the engineer was no longer with Ensign Engineering. I requested another engineer to look at the plans and get back with me, and it took several days and several phone calls each day before I was able to speak to an engineer. They agreed the plans were over engineered and could have been done better. I talked to Cody Santos about making changes to the plans almost 2 weeks ago. He promised to get back to me within a day and would make the necessary changes we talked about, and I have not heard from him since. Due to this, I have consulted with the city, my concrete contractor and another engineering firm and we are moving forward with the changes that were needed.

I would not recommend using Ensign Engineering due to the amount of time that it takes to complete the plans, the overcomplicated nature of the plans, and their lack of communication.

Response to Response: The Job was under Curtis Dudley. I got the name wrong. I have edited the name to show the right person we were working with at the end which was Cody Santos.

I met with Justin Jenkins in his Sandy office to get a feel for EnsIgn Engineering. He is very likable and I chose to work with him shortly after my visit. We had an agreement w/expectations and when I needed more time he accommodated. He saw the project through completion and communicated throughout. I found his team to be very personable when they came out. And, I might add the quality of the aerial photos were superb. Justin helped work through a minor hiccup with professionalism. I would recommend him and his team to anyone. If you’re looking for a solid Engineering Company, call them with confidence. Regards, Matt

In 35 years of business as a builder, Ive never worked with structural engineers as good as those at Ensign.
Their experience and practical approach are obvious in taking on difficult projects. In addition to their professional ability, they are accessible and personable.

Unresponsive after we had work done. Never received actual signed and stamped survey. Didn't provide the city code as promised or help us find what we needed. Told me I had to pay after a few days of receiving the bill, when it is net/30. Project manager Bill refuses to answer calls or emails. Unprofessional.
