The best sell I can give you on Danish Pastry House is that we ordered wayyyy more than enough cake for our wedding guests (3 flavors and enough to feed about twice as many guests as we had) and it was ALL gone at the end of the night. People were coming up to us saying they tried all three flavors because it was so delicious!

They did such a good job, the cake was amazing, and the flavors are so much more unique and interesting than the basic “vanilla” and “chocolate” that most bakeries offer for their wedding cake flavors. We went with black forest, Swedish princess, and passionfruit, but everything we tried from the bakery during the tasting was awesome.

They also worked with me in advance to use dried flowers I sourced to decorate the cake. It turned out even better than I could have hoped for! Everything was delivered on time and was just perfect.

I’d highly recommend Danish Pastry House to anyone looking for a unique, delicious, and affordable wedding cake option! I think they were by far one of the best bang-for-our-buck wedding vendors, and we’re so thankful to them!

We have been searching for a marzipan cake for a couple of years now and finally found one at Danish Pastry House. We ordered the Princess Torte and were not disappointed. The marzipan is the best we have ever tasted. When picking up the cake, we could not resist buying several of the other pastries (including the mayor snail) just to try, and they did not disappoint. We will be returning to try more of their wonderful pastries.

Dirken went way, way, way out of his way to make my daughter's birthday a special one. We live in California and she moved to New Hampshire two years ago. Dirken was lovely and worked with us and our logistics to make it happen. We picked up a beautiful, scrumptious cake. She was absolutely delighted.

Thank you!

The color is off in this picture. For those of you in the know, trust that the cake was the classic Princess Cake green.

Amazing authentic Danish pastries made by a Dane! 🇩🇰 If you want to try something new & traditionally Danish, I recommend trying a kanelsnegl (like a delicious cross between a croissant and a cinnamon roll) or flødebolle (like chocolate covered marshmallow fluff), but honestly everything we tried was wonderful. The coffee is also great.

I love the Danish Party House! They are one of the few solid links that make pastries, marzipan sweets and baked goods the way I remember them growing up in Germany. The croissants are flaky and buttery with just the right amount of crunch. The sandwiches are delicious on a variety of good breads.
But the best thing is their flødeboller sandwich. It's an off-menu treat traditional in Europe where these chocolate-covered marshmallow-cream-on-a-crisp-waffle goodies and fresh baked rolls are prevalent. You split the roll in half, place the flødeboller in between and then smash it today enough to bite into.
Unless you get someone who is family or who has worked there for a while, you might have to explain what it is. But it's also eat enough to just order the components and do the rest yourself, and srsly, so worth it.
Love this place.

I do not want to be too critical given how far away Watertown is from Denmark, but having grown up in the village with the best bakery in Denmark it is hard not to be.

The selection is small but decent, but many of the cakes are unrecognizable and certainly not Danish. I saw something I thought was an odd-shaped havregrynskage, but upon asking I quickly realized that none of the ingredients matched up.

I had a thebirkes and a spandauer. I asked what cream was in the spandauer and unfortunately the response was "custard". The crust was the correct level of sweet, but a tiny bit soft. It tasted way too salty, and I have a bad feeling it is because they attempted to turn unsalted butter into salted butter by naïvely adding salt to it. The so-called custard was actually a failed version of the cake cream you normally use in lagkage instead of the kind you use in bagerens dårlige øje (yellow spandauer).

All of that said, I am sure it is hard to get authentic ingredients all the way over here, but it still left a lot for me to be desired.

Very disappointed with the overall flavor, quality and freshness. I ordered one of their signature cakes - passion fruit cake, thinking this would be a good reflection of their work and whether I would continue my patronage.

While the appearance of the cake looked nice, this was a case of style over substance to quote Paul Hollywood. The cake was just overwhelmingly sweet with no fruit flavors at all. I was expecting some tanginess, complexity and lightness from the cake, but it was heavy and very one-note. There was also no fruit inside or outside as a garnish. They could have done so much with passionfruit, but alas it was just flavor it with sugar. I could have gotten a cake from the grocery store for half the price with similar flavors and better texture honestly. I bought the cake for somebody’s birthday and nobody liked it, so I’m stuck with it now.

For additional context, I picked up the cake at the Watertown location and it was basically a hole in the wall and nothing like the pictures - no tables for customers to sit, relax and enjoy pastries, just really a storefront for picking up orders. There were pastries on display, but not many and not impressive, with the quality questionable.

My conversation with the clerk yielded more concerns than answers. She noted that cakes weren’t made fresh everyday; they’re made over the course of days as they need to be cooled and decorated. As someone who is a big fan of the Great British Bake Off, I was not impressed cause cakes can and should be done as fresh as possible. So instead of opting to pick up some pastries on display for my family, I decided to take the cake and not take any chances.

Needless to say, I will not be returning, and consider my $40 a sunk cost.
