Cross and Company to the Rescue!
By virtue of having sold off one of our technology companies, and surrendering the previously shared office to the new buyers as part of that arrangement we suddenly found ourselves in need of a flexible lease in a presentable Frederick, MD office space. We moved within the first 14 days after selling the other company, and if you've ever been through due diligence and a closing... We hardly had time to think! We had not made any arrangements prior to closing on the sale... none! We were growing quickly, managing the sale, aggressively re-investing in the remaining business, and hiring up to get ready for "next". It was a crazy time and we needed an easy button.
We needed a simple and flexible agreement, a quick move-in, and full service. We didn't have time to find a new cleaning crew, etc. We just needed to be able to move in and get back to work while we figured everything out.
That's where Cross and Company came in.
From first conversation to move-in: Literally... Days.
Agreement: Simple.
Service: Excellent.
Space: Perfect Size for us.
The Building Itself: Clean, secure, well-appointed, very professional, and extremely well-located.
Building Services: Top-Notch! (the cleaning people - I know, but it's the little things sometimes) remembered all of our names and said hello every day to anyone that was still there. Any issue we ever had was handled quickly and professionally, and frankly there weren't many issues at all - just a key for a closet, etc. And the owner is not an absent investor, he actually proactively checks in on tenants himself and makes himself available to resolve any issue that needs his attention. His desire to exceed the bar on customer service was proven and was the cherry on top of the whole thing for me personally. They even loaned us a conference table while we there. That's not something they offer, it just worked out that they could so they did.
We outgrew the space (because we grew by more than 100% in the next 15 months), but if I started another business, or ever needed to move one of our teams, I would not hesitate to move into that building again or for that matter any property Cross and Company managed, especially if the same owner were behind it. They even let us hold over for 3 months with no rent bump. Seriously. They went above and beyond in all the ways I have described and many more. It was enough to make me feel like I should leave this note - that they did NOT ask for.
