My real estate agent recommended this company when I was purchasing my home, and I am so frustrated at her for doing so. I have purchased many homes over the years, and Criterium-McWilliam Engineers turned out to be the WORST home inspection I’ve ever had.
The inspector, David Taylor, was polite, however, he missed some major issues with the home. This has resulted in thousands of dollars worth of repairs, and we are still uncovering issues. The issues that were missed, are issues that other professionals were able to visually identify in minutes and those professionals have each stated “this should have been caught in your home inspection”.
We gave Criterium the opportunity to make things right, and they made matters worse. They wasted our time just to write a response which had the sole intention of ensuring they were not liable. They truly do not care about the clients. Had they owned up to their mistakes and taken responsibility, this review would have been much different.
I hope no one else makes the mistake we did…..do NOT use this company! Double the price and double the issues/worries/repairs.

The entire team at Criterium-McWilliam are outstanding. We have used David Taylor on several inspections and his quality is second-to-none. We have even had compliments from plumbers and electricians who stated most inspectors wouldn’t have caught specific issues. They are priced a little higher than other inspectors but far worth the cost, as they have caught issues that would end up being thousands more. Prompt, courteous, and supreme professionals. I recommend them to everyone!

I contracted this company, as I was purchasing a large home, and imagined contracting an "engineer" would do a superior job. Instead of hiring a reasonably priced Home Inspector, I paid double the amount, anticipating double the quality.

The inspector that came out was nice, however not thorough. I even had to point a few issues out. I purchased the home and came to discovered additional issues resulting in over $1000 in repairs. I contacted their GM about my experience. He was kind enough to take the time to write a letter recapping their disclaimers and that I should understand the risks of buying a home.

So, save yourself the money, hire a reasonably priced Home Inspector and run the same risks.

I'm a first time home buyer and have had 3 inspections completed by David Taylor, E.I., Master Inspector. I was referred to him by my realtor Jessica Ream (the best) I'm not a picky person, but after my first purchase attempt fell through, he prevented me from "rebounding" and purchasing a home with an un-permitted casita (guest house).

That's what's really amazing about Mr. Taylor though, he didn't guilt me or brow beat me about the issues with each house. He is incredibly thorough and you can tell that he is genuinely invested in producing top quality work. With the detailed set of inspections he produced for me, he assisted me in making the final ultimate purchase.

They were so invested in their quality customer service, they hand delivered me a copy of my report when it was due while they were experiencing an outage with their email server.

Mr. Taylor is extremely professional and will not waste your time by extrapolating on things that can be found in Criterium-McWilliam's incredibly extensive report but seems to already know what you cared to hear about the most; those worries that are in the back of your mind but didn't want to focus on. He will present everything blatantly, be careful with who you disclose these reports to. In my experience, they can frustrate sellers and can worry your lender. If you've run across a bad review of Mr. Taylor or Criterium-McWilliam's work, I'm certain that it's because they, "found too much". The truth hurts!

But the value of a report of this quality is that I now have a roadmap to catching certain underlying conditions in my home along with tips on maintenance schedules for each major component. Huge return on investment.

Overall, I just an amazing experience with David Taylor and his team! I work as a compliance investigator myself (if that helps add credibility to this) and I was absolutely blown away by the quality of work performed.

I used this service because all of their inspectors are certified engineers. David was very professional - one of those modest types you can tell knows their stuff and doesn't care for impressing you with hollow rhetoric. The next day he gave me a very thorough written report with the defects and some recommendatiosn about what I should do next (like insulate the water heater, etc.) My only regret is that I waited until the house was nearly finished before calling; these guys are at their best when the house is under construction and they can see the insides. If I were to do it again I'd call them when the framing was still visible. There was also a more through level of inspection where they look inside the already constructed walls and so forth but I didn't use this.

Would Like to thank David and Criterium McWilliams! Can’t recommend enough, this incredible group of Engineers! I have spent a life time in Real Estate, Construction and Development! And, no mater if I’m working on a simple condo or a multi million dollar Property, commercial or residential, that extra expertise that these men have has made all the difference! Yes, they are more expensive than the average inspector, but, your paying for a more in-depth inspection! The Best! Elisa Synergy Sotheby’s International

Worst inspectors, especially Kevin Greene. He has no understanding of building codes, and no understanding of electrical codes. Do not use them, even to inspect an outhouse.
