Rick has been an excellent landlord for my family. He's extremely kind, patient with questions, quick to take care of maintenance issues, and willing to be helpful in any way he can. If I needed someone to manage a property, I would also look to Rick. His background knowledge and experience in real estate and the local market is vast. He advertised this property well, was very thorough in vetting, and highly capable in regards to maintenance/repair saving the owner $$. It's been great to work with him.

My family and I have lived for over 6 years in one of the properties that Rick Rodriguez manages. We love our house and Rick is always there for us when we need him. From our oven getting replaced, (which he stayed with the installer to make sure it's installed right, even though he was sick that day), to getting an upgrade on our dishwasher. Rick works hard for his clientele and is also a strong advocate to make sure our needs as tenants are met. We couldn't ask for a better property manager and we are a life long Core One customer.

I lived in a Core One managed building for about 4 years and only left because I took an opportunity to move out of state. If given the opportunity to rent another unit with them, especially managed by Rick, I would certainly do so. Rick was very friendly and responsive to any issues I ever had with the unit, such as repairs and handling new tenants (I had a few different roommates in the 4 years I rented the unit). Additionally, when it was time for me to leave, I was forced to give Rick short notice on my move. He was extremely accommodating and made the process as painless as moving can be. Overall, great experience 10/10.

Rick has been my landlord for about 6 months now, and honestly I couldn't ask for better. Him and his team replaced my door when I needed it (that day) and then when that old water heater went out on me, he had people come out and get it fixed super fast! Great communicator through text and phone calls, I always feel like I can get in touch when I need. Rick Rodriguez is a great Land Lord, despite my issues with my credit he was very understanding and gave my family and I the opportunity to be stably housed. Any time I had a maintenance issue he did not hesitate to fix the issue! My family and I thank you for our home!!!

Rick is more concerned with being your “buddy” then simple requests, routine maintenance and desperately needed repairs. There’s been water damage and subsequent mold in my apt since I moved in and they’ve barely managed to look at the problem area. He was more concerned with my “attitude” than any wrong doing when I found it necessary to remind him to follow the tenant laws in giving 24 hr notice before entering the property each and every time. He refuses to give me a second key to my lobby door even though I have asked repeatedly because he says I live alone but I pay the same as the other apts in my building or at least the ones that haven’t stood empty for months at a time. The kitchen sink water is scalding and the shower water never gets hot. This unit was illegally listed as a two bedroom but it’s owned by the slumlord that employs Rick and turned the living space into a second “bedroom” and jacked the price up to $2100 in deep west Oakland. The unit wasn’t clean when I moved in and they failed to do a walk through and fix anything which is all still in disrepair. Cheap flip remodel of an old cool building and sadly, this is becoming the norm. There’s an old tenant that was evicted from this building that now lives in the doorway of the church across the street. They’ve plastered pay or quit notices on my door every month I’m even a day late including before I was even late. Worst. Ever.

UPDATE: Rick saw this review and his only response was incredibly unprofessional and on par with his business practices. I moved out and Rick has screwed me out of every possible penny from my deposit, charging me for painting when it wasn’t even painted before me as there was food grease all over the kitchen from the previous tenant. I will he taking him to court. He’s obviously asked his long term residents to write reviews on here but any property owner that isn’t a slumlord wouldn’t work with this company.
