Contracted to grit by Newcastle council, they've hardly bothered this winter. Roads around ne5 and ne15 are an absolute disgrace. I'd imagine they're in charge of filling grit bins as well, hence they're all empty. Various sources claim they are being paid around 950k per year to not grit or fill bins.
