Sharon is an exceptional designer. She thoughtfully planned out our new Waterwise, California native garden. Every square inch has purpose. We finished our project in October and our yard is not fully grown in but already way more interesting than grass. Sharon thoughtfully incorporated rock gardens, raised beds, and a gorgeous flagstone walking path that will flower with creeping thyme. I never would have dreamed up the stunning plants that line this flagstone pathway. The birds have made themselves at home here in the low-lying shrubs which mimic our native sage scrub. We cant wait for the spring when everything grows in and our garden is filled with birds, blooms and butterflies! Thank you Sharon!!!

Sharon was terrific! She conducted a home visit and brought samples of plants that could work for our front garden. We discussed what was important to us, including colors we liked and she gave us more ideas and took dimensions of our garden. Then she quickly turned around and provided recommendations with other options for various plants, layout of what should go wheee, and nearby nurseries to make purchases. I really appreciated Sharon’s love and passion for this work, expertise in landscaping and gardening and professional. Sharon was a pleasure to work with.

Several years ago, we added a water feature as part of our re-landscaping the backyard. It was originally designed to look like a mountain stream. I designed the landscaping surrounding the stream myself. In a few short years, it was so overgrown you couldn't see the stream. Enter Sharon Colayco, owner of Butterfly Effect Garden. She is an expert in California native plants and has a keen eye for design. We worked collaboratively to redesign the landscaping around the water feature. It has been transformed into a wonderful balance of native plants working in concert with existing shrubbery, color, texture, and stone. Sharon works with you, asking questions that help you clarify your vision of the desired outcome. She is a valuable resource for any landscape design project.

Sharon helped us improve the curb appeal of a street-facing part of our property, converting a messy mix of ornamental plants into a beautiful native plant garden. During her initial on-site consultation she advised us on suitable plants for the location and made 3D scans. From those scans she provided us various views, with the layout, color, and names of the new plants. This helped us visualize what the result would look like, immediately. She was responsive to some minor changes we requested, and then sourced the plants for us from local nurseries, critically inspecting their quality with her expert eye before arranging the delivery. She kept us well informed at every step and was completely transparent about the process and the cost. Without her help, we wouldn't even have known where to start, and now that everything is done and planted, it seems like it was all very easy. The service she provided was extraordinary and we couldn't be happier about the experience.
