We hired Aware Architecture to assist us with the design and permitting of 2 Strawbale and Earth Plaster Casitas in an urban infill project in Phoenix, AZ. As longtime members of this community, we wanted to raise awareness around natural building methods in this neighborhood. This being the first Hybrid-Structural Strawbale project ever permitted in the City of Phoenix meant that it came with it's share of challenges. Aware Architecture partnered with us and together we met the requirements of the City Officials and were able to get this model project approved with provisions for PV Panels, rainwater catchment, and grey water irrigation. Aware Architecture specializes in these types of projects and we would recommend them to anyone attempting to do something similar in their community.
