We began and completed our project with Alex in July of this year. We gave him some plans/ideas for what we were looking for and he made it happen on time and within budget. Alex will manage the whole project from start to finish. We had a complete remodel of the backyard, including hardscape, painting, lighting, irrigation, and gate/fence building. Alex wasn't pushy and had consideration for our budget throughout the entire project. He even added a couple of extra items at no cost. His crew was nice, showed up on time, and kept the project site clean every day. If I had questions, I could call Alex and he'd either come over or text/call me right back. When Alex and his crew finished the project, I noticed some of the newly planted plants were dying. This was during the heatwave, so I increased the watering but unfortunately, several plants didn't make it. A majority of the new plants didn't have issues, so I don't know if it is user error or I just got some bad plants. I'll be calling Alex to see if he's got a fix and update this review if we find a solution.

Lastly, Alex is very energetic, passionate, and knowledgeable when it comes to landscaping. More importantly, Alex is trustworthy and honest which is rare nowadays. My standards are pretty high and I don't often write reviews or give recommendations, but Alex and his crew won me over. I would highly recommend Alex to family and friends.

Even with our tight budget, he was so flexible and managed to make our backyard dreams come true. We recently worked with AV Landscape, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. Alex, the owner, was extremely thorough and professional throughout the entire process. They removed an existing BBQ island and replaced it with a stunning gas fire pit that has completely transformed our outdoor space. They also handled the landscaping and mulching for our entire backyard, and it looks amazing.

We just finished a big outdoor renovation project with AV Landscaping and could not be happier with the final results.

Alex, the owner was super responsive/thorough from the beginning to the end. When we reached out to him in March, he was the first of many contractors to offer a real solution for a massive slope and drainage issue with a competitive quote. The project started out small with a French drain to catch continuous hill seepage as well as some sprinkler, light and plant updates.

Then to capitalize on timing, we tripled the work with removing oddly placed planters, removing unneeded walls and gates, waterproofing additional retaining walls, adding matching hardscape (entertainment/bbq area, entry, sidewalk and 3rd parking space) plus re-hauling irrigation, plants and lighting— basically transformed the entire backyard and updated the side yard and front yard.

There were a few obstacles, as the property is 50+/- years old with tricky elevation changes. Through it all, Alex was very patient, super responsive and thoughtful, always open to ideas and wouldn’t give up until a solution was found.

He gave frequent video updates and voice messages. His team- Omar and crew were friendly, efficient, professional, clean, on time every single day and went above and beyond. Highly recommend AV Landscaping!

We called and Alex came out the same day to give us a quote. We accepted his quote and he started a few days later. It was a small project, installing drain lines in our side yard, had to cut through some concrete. David came with his crew and did a great job, finishing one day ahead of schedule. Alex was responsive to any questions, sent progress photos and kept us informed. They left the job cleaner than we they started, sweeping off our patio which was not part of the project. We are pleased with the work and feel Alex gave us a fair quote for the work done. We will be reaching out to Alex when we have another project.

We combed through yelp for nearly all the contractors in the OC area, made a short list of ~50, reached out to a dozen, met with half a dozen, got several estimates then finally decided to go with Alex. All things considered (portfolio, experience, cost, reviews, time-wise, etc..) he was way better than the rest. From the very beginning I had a great experience, Alex was quick to schedule a walk through so he could give an estimate and he gave the initial one very quickly. We then went back to the drawing board because we wanted to add some more features to the backyard, which actually took a couple months. With the new design, Alex didn't miss a beat and gave an updated estimate within a couple days. He was also ready to start ASAP, like tomorrow. After paying Alex the initial payment (which he very nicely offered multiple payment plants with varying discounts), I was nervous. Despite the great reviews, excellent communication thus far, and no red flags on his contractor license lookup, technically any contractor could just drag their feet and delay doing the job. I've heard many nightmare stories like this. That was 0 percent of my experience with Alex and his crew. Right on time, they showed up and started working. After that, there was never any doubt that the crew would show up and do great work. During this time, Alex was very involved, communicating the progress of the project very often; which was removing all existing hardscape and softscape. Then, installing tiles, steppers, building 2 benches, a tree perimeter, installing a fire table, adding diverse softscape (trees, hedges, succulents, fruit trees, etc..), LED lights, wood screens, and irrigation. Quite a complex project, basically an entire redo! During the project we really worked together to come up with what was practical and aesthetic. Alex is also very experienced and has great attention to details. I couldn't believe how many parts it took to put together a bench when I saw the invoice, but we didn't have to handle any of that. He just showed us the wood samples and asked us to pick. The same goes for other details, such as adding a weed guard in our pottery, adding odor absorber for our turf, and the list goes on… These are no corner cutting things a good contractor like him would just do without you even asking. Finally, the irrigation and LED lights were super easy to hook up to bluetooth and wifi. Their app was super easy to use and rated 5/5 in the app store and connected to Alexa very easily (again small details but very important nonetheless). Finally, we requested specific fruit trees, which were not easy to find... Alex ended up visiting 3 different nurseries before finally getting them. He actually could have taken the easy route, as the nursery DID have the trees we wanted in stock. But, he took the extra time to talk to the nursery owner and verify that the trees we listed would actually bear fruit well. We actually love, love the peach tree he got us as it's supposed to yield 5 different peaches and some are growing already! In summary, I would highly recommend Alex and his crew. Alex is experienced, knows his stuff, really cares, and does things the right way. I wish I had friends who were doing backyard projects so I can recommend him to them.

Alex and the AV team did a phenomenal job installing privacy hedges for us. They were very responsive, professional and went out of their way to make sure things were perfect. Would definitely recommend and will use them for future projects!!

Our patio was in desperate need of help. Whenever it rained, water and mud would pour off our slope and onto our patio. We also wanted the retaining wall to be moved back 4 feet because our patio's seating area was too small. We requested bids for a new retaining wall. Alex with AV Landscaping came back with the most reasonable bid. They installed all new drains in addition to cementing the new footing area. We also had them redo our driveway with pavers, and it turned out beautifully. Both the work and the service were excellent. We are very happy with how everything came out. Alex is very amiable and meticulous about his work. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves as if they had never been there. Definitely, we'll use them again!
