My wife and I reached out to Mike to enlist him and his team to lead with designing, putting together a permit package, and permit submittal and approval of our ADU garage conversion. Being first-time owner-builders, Mike and Dane were very helpful and very patient with our questions throughout the entire process, so much so that my wife and I believe that permitting and construction would have been more challenging and taken longer without their guidance. Mike and his team created the plans for our basement dig-out and remodel. Our home is over 110 years old and in Midtown. The project was tricky! Everyone was extremely helpful, thorough, and professional. We felt like we were in good hands the entire way through! The city permit employees, inspectors, and contractors all had wonderful things to say about Applied Architects, which made permits and inspections much easier! They recommended a great construction company, Greensource, and after 10 months we are in our new rebuilt home! We will absolutely be using them again for our kitchen remodel!

They did an excellent job of keeping us informed of where we were in the planning process and what the next steps were, without any delay. I could pick up the phone and reach Mike or Dane any day of the week, even though I rarely needed to because they were on top of everything. They know exactly what the city and its departments are looking for and how to get through all stages of planning and development. They even provided us with a list of general contractors that they recommended and provided notes on each one (we ended up choosing one from their list). Having worked with other architecture firms in the past, I can say that the individuals at Applied Architecture are experts and professionals, and they make the process feel seamless. Mike and his team are very diligent and professional. I hired them to design our ADU. Mike took the time to meet with us and listened to our wants and needs, then incorporated them into the design. He educated us on what could be done and why some things we wanted cannot be done. The use of space is perfectly designed. The communication throughout the wntire process was clear and concise. We are almost finished with the construction phase of our project and could not be happier. We definitely would recommend Mike and his team if you are planning a custom home.
