We worked with Adam on the recommendation of our builder Chuck Hobbs (and his colleague Mike Minnerly). We were seeking a functional, environmentally-friendly two connected structure, mid-century modern design. Adam came to visit the property, listened to our ideas, and then designed a beautiful "hinge house" design that met our functional needs. He gave us a copy of Christopher Allen's book to explain his design approach. When we ran into a zoning issue, Adam quickly pivoted and redesigned elements of the structures that significantly improved the original design. Adam was open to regular back and forth, sparring over design ideas and budget constraints, and meeting regularly with our builders and us throughout the design process. While we went over budget to meet our needs (Adam did try to keep us on budget but given our desire for quality, local, and green materials it was difficult) the outcome was pretty much exactly what we envisioned. We just LOVE our house and its exterior and interior design. We'd recommend Adam to anyone for his design and aesthetic and collaborative approach.

We had a fabulous experience working with Adam. Adam is extremely talented, insightful, thorough and most importantly in our case - patient! We went into this project with some specific ideas and requirements but we also had a lot of gaps. Adam offered several ideas that incorporated our special needs and put together a beautiful and functional design that suits us perfectly. We made several changes along the way and Adam was always available either in person or virtually to incorporate changes and update the plans. We employed Adam to design a renovation plan for a home we are purchasing. We had pretty tight constraints and preferences. Adam was able to advise us on trade-offs between creating the "perfect" plan and the relative cost of certain decisions we were making, and did so in a gentle and respectful manner.

Where we gave vague instructions like "we want to redesign the kitchen", Adam's ideas had never occurred to us and completely transformed the house and its usefulness.

Our contract stipulated that Adam would work with us "until we were happy", which is exactly what he did. In the end, we ran out of things to talk about because everything had been addressed.
