I wish we could give more than 5 stars for Rick and 3rd Story Architecture. We hired Rick to help us with the design and build out of our group training studio & private gym. From the very first time we met him we knew we were in great hands. His professionalism, expertise and quick responses to all of our questions (and there were many!) were so much appreciated. He gave us SO many ideas and invested so much time in help making our gym come to life on paper. We always felt the customer service of 3rd Story far surpassed anything we were anticipating. Rick provided so much insight into the design, functionality and best use of space for our equipment and overall flow.

During our build out/construction phase of the project, we encountered MANY issues with our contractor (many of which we are still tackling today). Rick became so much more than our architect. He became the ONE person through this process we could actually trust. When we had questions or needed advice he was always there to give us thorough, thought out feedback. He will absolutely be one of the first people we invite to our grand opening (which will be soon!)

If you need an architect to help you with your project, this is HANDS DOWN a choice you will not regret. We would, without hesitation, use him for our future projects and recommend him to ANYONE looking for a passionate, extremely talented architect who is dedicated 100% to his clients and his product.

A realtor put Rick Daugherty and I together as the design/build team for her custom home clients in 2001. At that initial preliminary design meeting I could see Rick was very talented. His imagination, creativity energy and enthusiasm was different than I had seen in other architects; either before, or since. That first project Rick designed was so spectacular it won a national contest for the best custom home in 2003, finishing ahead of 500 contestants.

I’ve seen Rick quickly draw a sketch as a client was trying to explain their vision of a particular portion of their project. Rick was so fast at interpreting client’s comments he’d complete that sketch even before the client could fully explain what they wanted; it’s extraordinary how he is able to convert words into an image so quickly.

Rick’s construction documents are well detailed, presented logically, and coordinated, generally easy to build from. With the complexities of some of his projects, there’s the inevitable questions which he makes himself available for, on site if need be and usually with humor.

Rick's strength is his creativity and how he brings that into his projects, he stands out in that way. Over the years I have built a wide variety of projects for him, from contemporary to traditional, all of them beautifully designed and unique.
