They are often the only engineering firm that will take small projects hence the name Small potatoes and on that point they get the one star that I was able to award. On anything else they are clearly over their head understaffed without any office management or coherent process for completing the tasks they've been hired to do. They don't turn any work down so they're constantly bringing in new customers and setting up appointments to review new work instead of trying to complete the work that they already have in any sort of timely fashion. The work that is completed is rushed and requires many basic modifications and changes that take even more time that they don't have. If this company had a proper office manager that could rain in a bunch of individual engineers working on their own thought process and direction instead of a single process in a single direction as a business and they might actually be able to do some good because they are nice people and people you would like to work with but the point of the exercise is to get the job done and they cannot or will not finish your job on your timeline or even their own timeline for that matter.

Small potatoes was sent to a property that my clients were interested in purchasing to address sloping floors. They wrote up a report and plan of action to fix. My buyers trusted the word of a structural engineer that it would solve the problem. The repairs recommended by small potatoes were completed by their recommended contractor. Small potatoes never went back underneath the home to inspect the work completed, they only looked at photos sent by the contractor. Not only did the recommended repairs not solve the problem, it actually made it worse. Buyers had three different structural contractors go back out and every one of them said the work completed by SP recommended contractor was nowhere near what needed to be done to address the issue. The engineer they sent out was not only unprofessional but also seemed very inexperienced. Very unfortunate and stressful situation all around

Jonathan was the Structural PE who came to help me at my house. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and was able to break down all of my questions in a way I could easily comprehend. 10/10 recommend if you feel like you need any sort of structural engineering help.

This company a scam everytime I called it was a excuse to come out when they finally did it took a month to receive letter the city didn’t accept the letter 2 times because the verbiage they tried to charge me additional 400 to come back out to check work completed they never mentioned additional fees I have several emails and texts no fee mentioned and they still are trying to bill me i am contacting a attorney

Fantastic Service - This company is Brilliant - their customer service is above reproach. My husband has 3 engineering degrees and is very impressed with Zack & John. They have been out to our son Gavin's house prior and just left again today, after sharing insightful structural ideas that saves time & money. What a difference their experience makes on all projects - I just purchased another home in Norfolk and have hired this company AGAIN. Trusted, Experienced, Knowledgable and Damn good !!!

Jonanthan Mazzenga was pleasant to work with and his promptness is appreciated. The office seems to have major communication and clarification issues with their clients. Due to questionable recommendations, I did not use Small Potatoes. It is highly recommended to use this company for small projects such as porches and decks.

Michael and Jacob came right away to inspect our deck to see if it could carry a hot tub. They were friendly and professional as they gave recommendations to reinforce the deck.
We waited a bit longer than expected for the written report, but it was done expertly and with meticulous care.
