I experienced a little apprehension today as I had made an appointment to have a technician from Wythe Home Services to come to my home to perform my first maintenance on my Generac Generator.
I am 77 years of age and a Marine.
He may have sensed my concerns and he immediately suggested that I ask him any questions about the inspection and maintenance. To my pleasant surprise, Anthony, the young technician, began to answer my questions and set me at ease.
When he found out I was a Marine, he immediately thanked me for my service to
this great Country.
I was in awe as he did inspection after inspection, changed my oil, and checked my battery with a tool to show that it was fully charged. He did not rush his job even though there was more work than I had imagined. He told me about the trickle charge that internally helps keep my battery charged. Then he adjusted, at my request, the time that my Generator tests each week.. He was so meticulous in every thing he did. I could see that he was a pro at his job. By this time I felt so relieved that God had sent Anthony to my home.
Being a Family man and the Father of three young boys, he told me the name of each.
He stood there with his head high and proud of his Family.
He also said that they offer all kinds of other services to help me manage my home. I had no idea about all the services they offer.
At the end of the lengthy job, I knew Wythe Home Services would be my Company to help me as I continue to age.
I found the Company I can trust not to take advantage of me. Their service fee was very reasonable considering the amount of work Anthony did for me.
And yes, I recommend them more than you realize.
And thank you Anthony and I look forward to seeing you soon.

James was our tech. Nothing negative to say. He found that a more local company to us had put too large of a motor into our heat pump. That other company had "replaced" it twice already. James found the problem and fixed it after a thorough diagnostic. I am grateful for his work.

We needed a new heat pump unit. I called WHS and was promptly scheduled for an appointment. Trevor and Nick arrived early the day of the appointment. They worked quickly and efficiently over two days. The next day we had a problem with the unit and again they responded promptly. The guys were very friendly, courteous and neat. Good experience!!!

Wythe Home Services did an excellent job, as they always do. Brandon and Beth did a complete seasonal service and inspection of my heat pump. They were professional, efficient and pleasant. I'm always pleased to have Wythe Home Services perform both proactive and reactive services at our home.

David arrived promptly and gave us ample notice. I was out of town and we had a very nice conversation over the phone explaining the problem. We were concerned that our brand new tiled and glass shower enclosure would need to be torn apart to fix the leak. David managed to enter into a very tight crawlspace, find the leak quickly and repair it very reasonably

I just followed up on one of their HVAC jobs in Wytheville, at an old woman's house. Clearly they didn't think she would get in the attic to look at the job they did.

Immediately, I witnessed holes cut in the trunk the wrong size. There were multiple places where you can visually see into the ducts. Every duct connection and the air handler leaked catastrophically. You could feel air conditioning pouring into the attic space...about 25% of the air produced by the heat pump leaked into the attic. The return had holes everywhere where it was sucking in hot attic air and cooling it. They installed the filter in the attic instead of the return vent despite knowing the woman couldn't access it and would have to hire people to change it for her.

The holes cut through the ceiling where the vents and return went through - they didn't bother to take 5 minutes and use a $5 can of spray foam to seal them. So around every connection between the vent and drywall ceiling was a half inch to one inch gap, where heated air will constantly draft out in the winter.

This company sized an HVAC system without considering air sealing or the level of insulation and how that might affect the situation in the future.

I thought about calling them and telling them to fix their own mistakes, but didn't trust them enough to do a good job, so I sealed everything myself (see attached photo). That's how you seal a connection. This woman's power bill will go down 20% from 90min of work.

Perhaps these guys don't care about your power bill, or they don't know what they're doing. Perhaps they have these reviews because they assume people won't follow up on their work. Whatever the case, this was upsetting.
