I was a new commercial real estate owner in 2022 and believed that choosing a real estate broker who was a Leadership Frederick member as well as a rotary president would be a trustworthy real estate person.
I was wrong.

My new tenant was sweet and responsible. She wanted a 3 year contract with me. Great.

After the lease was signed she told me that the VCRE real estate person told her, and I quote, “Don’t worry. Laila will do anything I tell her to do. She will agree to anything I say.” That taught me loads.

I blame myself. I should have done better research of Real Estate Brokers.

My tenant ended her 3 year contract 6 months early. That was fine. I have learned a lot these past 2 years. I understand commercial real estate as well as contracts so much better now. I have also learned to use an excellent real estate lawyer who will make sure I have a fair contract that protects both me and my new tenant.
Always use a good lawyer to read your contracts, especially if you do not know a good real estate broker.

UPDATE: Interesting response to my recent review.
As an owner of 3 businesses, I understand that one must respond to every Google review whether it is positive or negative.
Good for you, VCRE, for your response even if it is confusing.
You say that I should have contacted you immediately so you could have fixed any issues I was having. Tell me, VCRE, what would you have done? Taking back your employee’s words that I, Laila, will agree with everything he says? How would you have corrected this? And how would you have corrected a weak contract that should have been fair and benefitted both your client (the landlord) and the new tenant?
What I have done and continue to do is use Maya Angelou’s words, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them”. I will follow what you do, not what you say.
I expected so much better and am disappointed in your company.
