I highly recommend Chris Bogdan Builders. I knew immediately 20 years ago when I bought my home which was new construction on Capitol Hill that Chris was a builder who built high quality homes and I was right. I love my home! It’s been a low maintenance home with very few problems. The workmanship has been excellent and any questions that I have had-Chris or his staff have happily responded to my questions. When you buy a home from Bogdan builders, you know you’re getting a high quality builder who cares and backs his product and who has highly professional people working for him.

Purchasing a new-build condo from Bogdan has been a disaster. Their employees are combative, defensive and unhelpful. Construction is sub-par. Examples:
1. For over 3 years all units had water leaks that they could not fix.
2. The building roof had to be entirely replaced within 4 years of new construction.
3. Sidewalks and other external concrete work is not reinforced.

In addition, when confronted about shoddy work, one manager joked that the employee must have forgotten their glasses. On another instance, owner Chris Bogdan came to look at 3rd floor French doors that had been leaking and insisted the company would never install them in that location…even though they did.

Most expensive mistake I’ve made.

Update to my 5 year old review: I am still not happy with my buying experience with Bogdan, but recent developments have made me think that it might be different now. We had a significant roof problem in our building after 5 years. Bogdan has no obligation whatsoever to help us, but they took responsibility for repairs. I’m grateful for their willingness to be part of the solution and for helping us avoid/delay a costly roof replacement.

Terrible customer service. Avoid! Chris Bogdan, who left a glowing review, is the owner of the company. I’ve reported it as a review with a conflict of interest. I hope to see that upheld. If you don’t see a review from Chris Bogdan, it’s been removed.

About thirty years ago, my husband and I were looking to build a house on a lot that we had purchased. Friends of ours had recommended Bogdan Builders after they had built a house for them. The company at the time was owned and run by Chris' father, however he was soon going to retire and turn the company over to Chris. We decided to move ahead and enter into a contract, and contrary to other people's experiences with their builders, ours was a smooth one. They were accommodating with minor changes to the design and the project finished in a timely manner. The house has held up well in these 30+ years and outside of the usual maintenance and appliance changes, we have had no major problems. Recently we needed a partial kitchen upgrade and I called Chris for help. He was kind enough to recommend a contractor for work that did a good job. Although Chris did not have any involvement in the project, he took a personal interest and made sure we were helped properly. In short, we do not have any hesitation in recommending Bogdan Builders for well-constructed luxury homes.

I purchased one of the Bogdan Builders’ homes this past summer. I had been looking for months as it was very hard to find homes close in NW DC that had been upgraded and had the right floor plan. Row homes are tough to find that have a light and modern open floor plan while sharing the square footage on multiple floors and windows on only the front and back. Bogdan and his architect and team did an amazing job. I love my home and the privacy and quality of the finishings. I would have to say the ongoing contact and customer service has been remarkable. Actually have not found another company like them. When my dogs chewed my new cabinets they fixed them, helping me understand the tech in the home, and even contracted them to build me in a home library that looked like it was in the original design. Chris Bogdan, Jesse, and Danny are amazing. I have a beautiful new home yet close in to the historic neighborhoods. I would recommend them to anyone. I wish I had found them before spending so much time!

We have used Bogdan Builders on several remodeling jobs and each time the job came in on time and at projected costs. Work was done expeditiously and with excellent results. I have recommended Chris and his team to several clients and friends.

We purchased our first home from Bogdan, a condo in a new building, a little less than a year ago. It appeared beautiful and we were super excited! But during the 10.5 months we have lived here, we have had exceedingly little response from Bodgan, occasional pushback, and have been mostly ignored by them. We - and residents in ALL of the other units - have unresolved issues with the unit (and with the unfinished building as a whole), which have gone unaddressed. After 10 months, we still do not have working security system, which Bogdan is contractually obligated to provide. We do not have a working entry callbox, which they are also obligated to provide. We have no insulation between our unit and the unit above, which Bogdan refuses to look at, let alone repair/install. And we still have unfinished cabinets and other small issues - all things Bogdan is contractually obligated to address and complete. Most disturbingly, Bogdan has washed their hands of the security system, repeatedly telling us it's the fault of the contractor they hired (Vertigo), and refusing to hire another company or to force their contractor to do the work.
Bogden did not perform their "30-day inspection" until we lived in our unit for 4.5 months; and did not address any issues we contacted them about repeatedly in that time. After the "30-day inspection," they did nothing for another 2 months, then covid-19 hit the US. For the past 4 months, they've used the pandemic as an excuse as to why they have not addressed structural issues that should have been addressed 10 months ago. Or even 5 months ago. We have requested discussion with the manager, owner, or CEO, and have been met with deaf ears. We - and the residents of ALL of the other units in our building - believe they are intentionally waiting for their 1-year warranty to run out. I do NOT recommend working with this unethical and dishonest company.
