Let me just say that we LOVE our QBHI Cambridge Model!!! We've been in our home for about 10 months. We wanted to wait awhile before reviewing so that we could be as honest as possible about our overall experience. We were looking for a single family home with multi levels that also had a master bedroom on the main level that would transition well for senior living down the line. This Cambridge model and the Somerset by QBHI did just that. Working with QBHI was like no other.
This builder checked off all the boxes and we must have visited every builder in Southern MD before making the choice to build with QBHI. From start to finish, the QBHI build process is an exceptional well-oiled machine. From the sales office agents Rachel and Tim... to the Design Center Staff Michelle and Valerie... to the BB&T Mortgage Loan Officer Olga...to the 90 day post closing punch list review and repair orchestrated by Steve & crew...the entire experience was pretty top notched.

Every extension honored, every modification from the original floor plan honored, the ability to check on your product through various stages of construction honored, and if by chance you noticed something out of place during that process, a prompt response and change was made as needed. Like any builder there are always hiccups. Some major some minor... there are always final product imperfections. Some major some minor. So with that being said... there were some minor things. And even through Covid-19 -- 4 to 8 months after living here & though a little slow... we got a major erosion and exposed piping issue fixed in the front of the home. We haven't really had any other major issues in less than 1 year. I think with anything persistence and communication is key. Asking all the right questions and being heavily involved in your build process from start to finish will help for a much smoother process with minimal errors or issues. They were highly open and accepting to my hands on approach throughout this entire process.

I highly recommend QBHI to anyone looking to build a quality semi custom dream home. You will not be disappointed. I would definitely used them again to build another home in the future. Hands down, the best builder in Southern Maryland!

I'm going to start out by saying. I am extremely disappointed, and beyound stressed. We had such high hopes for our QBH home. We went with QBH because of their great reviews and their beautiful homes.
Our first big disappointment was that we did not get the pre-drywall walk through, like we were supposed to.My husband and my dad are in the construction industry and know first hand how people cut corners. We were told we would have 3 walk throughs. Pre-drywall, after drywall was up, and the final walk through. We made it very clear that the pre-dry wall walk through was important to us. We reached out in Septempber for when our pre-drywall walk through would be and were told the foreman was on vacation and they would reach out when he was back. Well when they finaly got back to us for our walk through, they already put the drywall up! We expressed our concern and even asked if there were drawings of where the studs/plumbing/electrical were placed, and were told there was not. We were upset but continued due to us already paying the deposit and having our hearts set on this house. It's almost 3 am and I can not sleep I am so pissed. We just signed the dotted line 4 days ago and have already come across MULTIPLE issues.First, the electrician who wired our house, either did not completely know what he was doing or was just lazy. My dad is a master electrician and found MULTIPLE mistakes and shotty workmanship while installing the fans/lights. He found wires that are burning!! Our BRAND NEW HOME is a complete fire hazard. The internet guy spent over 2 hours here trying to get us set up and kept running into issues because the did not properly supply power to the nessicary outlets. The breaker box is labeled wrong, and the ethernet ports were broke/installed wrong. Now to what is really making my blood boil. When installing plumbing, the pipes are supposed to be in the middle of the wall. Common sense right? Apparently not. The people who did our house, have the pipes right up against the dry wall. And how did we find this out? We used to a stud finder to hang our TV in the loving room and what did the stud finder find? You guessed it, not a stud but a pipe. So water sprayed all over our brand new living room. We opened the wall and that's when we discovered the lazy/shotty workman ship. I don't know how anyone could consider this "Quality workmanship" it's lazy and completely unexceptable. The crazy thing is, they KNEW this is where the TV was going to be hung, it was written in the plans from DAY ONE that the ethernet port would go there for the TV, because we did not want the TV over the fireplace. Heck we even added this wall to the drawings! We called the emergency line and the plumber who came sounded like he knew less about plumbing than I do. I would be shocked if he is even licensed. My husband explained the issues to him and what was done wrong and he just shrugged and said "well this is how we always do it". So great to know our whole house was plumbed incorrectly!! The guy I spoke to over the emergency line said that it was our fault for hitting the pipe and that QBH will probably not fix their mistake or cover damages. I was going to wait to make a review till after I heard from management, but after thinking about it, this has been such an awful, and stressful experience, I do not want anyone else to have to go through this. Here we are just a few days from Christmas, we had multiple parties planned here in our new home and now we have a freaking hole in our living room and water in the drywall, down to the basement. Moving and closing on a new home, is stressful enough as it is. This is just ridiculous, we bought a new home and did everything we could to dot our i's and cross our t's so we would not have these kind of issues when buying a home, but here were are. I am still shaking, I am so upset. I was so excited to show off our new house, and now I'm just sick to much stomach thinking about what the hell else we will find wrong in this "quality built home"

I closed on my Quality Built Home on 11/4/21.

Building a home with a home builder has it's various challenges. With that said, my experience was what I expected, some highs and a few lows. However, overall it was an exciting and positive process.

At this time, I want to honestly and specifically address the customer service department for QBHs.

As with all new builds, there will inevitably be issues that arise. One common theme with these houses seems to be the yards. In my opinion, it appears as though the land around here is difficult to start healthy yards. However, some homeowners have had better luck than others, to include myself. I have chosen not to make my yard a continued issue between myself and QBHs because they have been extremely responsive with everything that I have called them for. Kellie, Shayne, along with their main repair person (Wilder) have been nothing short of incredible. Never once have they made me feel as though I was being ignored or disregarded. Whenever, I email Kellie, she always responds within a reasonable amount of time. Shayne, who I believe is now in charge of the service department, goes above and beyond to assist with my needs. The service team has treated me with upmost respect, and have been very professional with our interactions. When Shayne (or Wilder) arrive at my house, they are ready to go, and consistently show care for the condition of my home.
It is because of this, that I try my best not to bother the service department, and handle issues on my own, because I know they must be extremely busy taking care of other homeowners. However, certain items have been above my knowledge base to address, and therefore I am compelled to reach out.

In closing, I have owned a few homes, and I always tell people that I have never seen a homebuilder with this level of customer excellent customer service. I have seen some negative reviews of QBHs' service department, however, from top to bottom, my experience with QBHs (and their service department) has been absolutely wonderful. And because of this, I will continue to put the good word out there and have zero regrets about purchasing this home!

We’ve owned our home less than five years and already have several leaks due to poor craftsmanship and shoddy plumbing installation. They refuse to return any calls or emails and dont stand behind their work. Once you settle, youre basically on your own. Nail pops evverywhere, looks like a third grader painted most of our rooms, they havent had a HOA meeting in almost two years which is against the law in VA, and are generally unpleasant to deal with. Save yourself time and money and dont build with them.

If you want rude staff with bad attitudes, poor quality home, no communication, then sure, go here, but be warned, you will be disappointed.
Update: Since my original review we have had an electrical fire from incorrectly wired light fixture, had to have our cable line replaced due to corrosion, a water break due to an improperly installed plumbing fixture, had to spend hours attempting to fix the horrible and incorrect labeling of the electrical panel, had to have a electrician fix multiple issues that were fire hazards. I could go on for hours and hours about the quick built home. The 2/10 warranty is a joke, so don't bother thinking that will help.
After 13 states and over 20 homes between me and my husband, we agree this is by far the worst purchase we have ever made.

I had a new home built by QBH 10 years ago. The house is very well constructed and has had no major problems over the years, aside from regular maintenance items. I love the house and neighborhood just as much now as when I moved in. Staff has always been kind and orofessional.

My husband and I have been in our QBH home for almost 3 years and we still wake up every morning saying, “We love this house!” Everything about the building process was flawless. Love the fact that all of the home selections were available in one place, at the QBH Design Center. Everyone associated with QBH was extremely helpful. We really appreciated their expertise in helping us design our basement area and making changes to our living area that customized our house to our style. Highly recommend this company, their beautiful home styles and every employee at QBH!!

Company is decent. Unfortunately, they use a lot of subcontractors who use cheap materials and have poor workmanship. They do not hold subcontractors accountable. QBH has a maintenance department but these guys are rude and have bad customer service. Be careful before signing anything with this company.
