We recently had to contact the warranty department about an issue that occurred in our home that was built 5 years ago. Andrew Helton did not hesitate to have someone come look and get the problem fixed as soon as he could. He stayed in contact with us and gave updates as he was able. The crew he had come out were also very good! They were polite and explained in detail what they were doing and answered any questions we had! Overall a pleasant experience!

We have had an awesome experience with Chattanooga AHP. Starting with Tracy. She has been such a blessing to us. She tirelessly worked with us to find the floor plan we could afford. Angela helped us pick our colors and make worry free decisions. Also a blessing. Andrew kept us informed of everything going on. Our house has went from foundation to roofing in less than 2 weeks! The workers kept the yard and house absolutely spotless. So needless to say we recommend AHP highly!

My fiancé and I are still in the process of building our home but I need to take a minute to brag on our project manager, Nathan Meyers. This spring has been monsoon season in East TN from the time we broke ground on building until it was roughed in. I have had no shortage of emotions during this difficult time to be building but Nathan has stepped up to the challenge. Everyday now things get more and more exciting for us as we approach completion. Would definitely recommend and use America's Home Place and Nathan Meyers again!

Tracy was so warm and welcoming when I went in to start the process of finding a house. She listened to everything I was looking for, and quickly showed me how they could modify one of their house plans to be exactly what I’m looking for. I am glad Tracy was there to help me start my journey.

Building a home is not an easy process. Lyndi Blair made the desgin process of our home smooth and easy. Framing was the most stressful part for me but all in all everything is coming together. Patience is key and so is communication.

We contracted with AHP to build our new home in the Chattanooga, TN area. This is our 4th new construction home and has been, by far, our worst experience. Poor quality of work, poor project management, lack of communication and AHP's failure to complete work for which it was paid. Some examples:

1) Failure to properly secure the subfloor to floor joists resulting in dozens of areas with popping and creaking. Even after a year trying to resolve the problem, we still have creaking floors.
AHP said they use screws and glue - not true. Pictures show nails (not screws and glue as we were told) not even in the floor joists.
2) AHP does not seem to know how to hang doors properly. We still have doors that are crooked and/or do not shut correctly.
3) AHP was paid to burn/remove the brush from where they cleared our building site but failed to complete this job. Picture shows a fraction of what was left for us to handle.
4) AHP was paid to construct a gravel driveway. A properly constructed driveway should survive the first rainfall. Ours did not. Pictures show the erosion due to faulty grading and lack of a base layer of larger gravel (provides stability).
5) AHP failed to advise us of termite service they provided through a pest control service. After we moved into our new home, we contracted with a different pest control service to begin regular pest and mosquito control services (we live in the woods). Upon our pest control service's initial inspection, they found termites in the crawl space of our home. We paid over $3K to have the termites eliminated and our home treated. About 2 weeks later, we received a "follow-up" call from AHP's pest control service. This was the first time we heard about the termite service AHP provided. When we confronted AHP about this, they refused to compensate us for our out-of-pocket expense that would not have been necessary had we known about AHP's pest control service. AHP has taken the position we did not give them the "right to cure." They did not get the right to cure because they failed to communicate. AHP's president has refused to answer the question that is at issue and even lied about this being covered in their Warranty manual (another failure on AHP's part - they did not even provide us with the Warranty manual until after this issue came to light).
6) Final grading of our yard was so poor that we would not have been able to push a lawnmower across it if we'd tried. Even though AHP's general manager at one point claimed that AHP would never allow a customer to perform work they were paid to do, he did not seem to be too concerned about us having to fix the grading of our yard. Their president's response? The base price of the house we purchased has gone up $140K since we signed the contract.
7) We recently learned that AHP's marking of our properly line was incorrect and part of our new construction (driveway and part of our septic system) crossed over onto our neighbor's property.
8) Water pouring into our basement garage when it rained because they did not properly grade the yard and did not properly construct the concrete block foundation. While they fixed this problem, they did nothing about the significant mold/mildew clean-up that was required after the fact.

AHP's attorney recently stated they have completed all required work. Another example of their inability to effectively manage their work. We still have insulation laying on the ground under our house (picture attached) where they were trying to fix the floors. Also, doors still are not hung correctly and our driveway continues washing away.

If aggravation and poor quality is what you want for your money, AHP is a good choice. If you want good quality, good communication and a builder who is more interested in results than excuses, I recommend trying someone else. Unfortunately, our journey is not over and appears may have to be resolved through litigation. Certainly not what we had hoped for when we first signed up with all the really nice sales people.
