Mike did a great job with our soft-story earthquake retrofit, for our 3-unit Edwardian building in the Castro. He did the engineering work and recommended a construction contractor who did a great job. Everything went smoothly and was close to Mike's original budget estimates. There were no cost over-runs or problems along the way. So overall we're very happy with the finished product and experience.

Mike was recommended to me by a contractor who had worked with him on multiple seismic projects. My goal was a DYI crawl space seismic retrofit of my 1938 split level Oakland home. After an onsite inspection and receipt of a set of house measurements, Mike developed a detailed Plan Set for the retrofit (8 shear walls) that sailed through the permitting process. Implementing the retrofit myself with limited knowledge of seismic retrofits albeit with considerable hands-on tool experience, I had a long list of Plan Set related questions that Mike answered respectfully, completely and quickly. Over the course of the multi-year project Mike provided further guidance as unforeseen retrofit questions specific to my house arose. Multiple city inspections during the course of the project consistently elicited compliments. Throughout, Mike was the consummate professional; approachable, personable, very willing to pass on his expertise. I would thoroughly recommend him for any residential seismic retrofit, would be delighted to work with him on a future project.
