Being a homeowner for many years, we have to say Matt is the only contractor we truly like and appreciate working together with.

Matt initially started the french drain project for us. He and his team did the job efficiently and smoothly. Every part of the project was done the way it should be done and Matt was always there to keep me posted on the progress. He would go beyond his original scope of work to get things done right. He was also an honest person - a really valuable character as a contractor.

After the french drain work which went great we decided to hire Matt again for our backyard work. It turned out to be another great experience with him and the result exceeded our expectations! For the quality of the work and the years of experience, Matt definitely deserves to be one of the best in the bay area.

Excellent work done by Matt and his crew. Super easy to communicate with and willing to work with our schedule.

Had backyard drainage issues and a daunting task of needing over 90ft of drainage ran out to the street. After meeting with Matt and discussing his approach to it, I was pretty confident he would get it done well and correct.

Job done now and it looks great! Actually looking forward to some rain this year lol!

Thanks again Matt!

Matt and his team overall did a fantastic job. Attention to detail with providing the initial survey to ensure the drainage ditch had sufficient slope for water flow. Matt is easy to work with and we appreciated his follow-up to ensure the water flow during the recent storms.

Matt, Foreman Brent, and their hardworking crew found a solution to the "nuisance water" that for years has been pooling in our backyard from a neighbor's underground spring (to the tune of 90 gallons a day!) with calm resolve. After putting this off for way too long, we couldn't be more pleased with the results. They were prompt, personable, and proficient. If you have a drainage conundrum, email Matt today: it's less expensive--and less traumatic--than you feared!

Home ownership in the East Bay hills has its peculiar challenges, with foundation damage and drainage issues being near the top of that list. When underground water from the last big rains started seeping into our basement rec room, coming dangerously close to electrical outlets, I knew I had to act fast.
A typical solution is the French drain, an underground channel which directs water away from the foundation. But the knock on French drains is that they don't always work as promised. If built improperly a French drain can easily clog or overflow, a complete waste of time and money. Point is, this is not a job for amateurs.
Matt Mahoney with Solves All Engineering put my mind at ease immediately. A general engineer by profession, Matt started talking solutions from the get-go, not trying to “sell” me his service. (He also worked within my budget and didn't eye me like a dollar sign, either.)
Matt proposed a multi-pronged solution, digging a trench alongside and below the foundation wall, sealing gaps and waterproofing the outside of the foundation, placing a sump pump inside the trench to drain underground water away from the house, and then filling the trench with porous rocks compatible with existing landscaping.
Matt and his crew showed up on time, completed the job on schedule, took care to clean up the work area, and stayed on budget.
As proof of concept, Matt took a garden hose and flooded the rock-covered trench to simulate a heavy rain. As the trench started to fill with water, the electric sump pump turned on automatically, piping the water onto our driveway where it ran down to the street. Our home's foundation is now protected and our rec room is staying dry as a bone. Matt's solution is an ingenious piece of engineering, and I couldn't be more pleased.

Matt Mahoney, his foreman Dan and the crew came to our rescue in between two atmospheric rivers installing a 45 ft long French drain 8 ft deep in places. It’s been three weeks since the last storm and everything is dry! They were professional efficient good communicators tidy personable and fairly priced. Highly recommend!
